Hand Made - In Frame Shaker with a decorative bead by Maxine @ Farnham Furnishers
Having worked on this customers previous house, it was a great pleasure to be part of their exiting new build project. The overall theme was a traditional feel but with a slight contemporary edge. The furniture throughout the house is handmade from our Sheffield factory, simple shaker, in frame style.
The study is in a walnut veneer, where we made the bespoke office desk and display shelving behind. The walnut gives a rich, warm feel to the room.
In some rooms the use of a dark colour created boldness and strength within the room.
Kitchen Using a lighter colour in the kitchen on the surrounding furniture, wrapping around the room linking into the Utility entrance, which is surrounded by shelving either side to discreetly hide the door. This contrasts the darker colour on the Island, and leading into the utility.
The breakfast bar and table are in the gorgeous vintage Spekva Oak complimenting the warm dark blue on the Island and the lighter colour on the outer units. Adding some natural elements. On either end of the Island open unit features break up the Island and to create storage with an oak veneered drawer and an open shelf for items that are immediate to hand, or simply as a display for the favorite bowls. Inside the pocket door larder is the dark wood oak veneer with a coffee station to access all day and close at the end of the day. Features such as a traditional style Quooker tap in polished nickel, Miele appliances, simple lighting in the glazed wall units, as well as dimmable task lighting under the wall units all add to the little luxury finishes. The customer fell in love with the Le Canche range cooker in the lovely soft blue, which we have complimented with all the colour choices. The worktop is in CaesarStone Aterra Blanco 5112, with its subtle marble marks, it is understated but still has a hint of character. Handles by Armac Martin, and a Shaw's butler sink all come together to make this a beautiful family space to gather around the island or sit at the bespoke dining table, without losing all the functionality required in the kitchen.
Utility Working with the darker blue from the Island in the kitchen, and the lighter colour on the surrounding units we flipped the emphasis on using the darker colour in the utility. This adds strength to a room that is not always so interesting to walk into. There are 2 hidden pull out laundry baskets, dog food internal drawer and an open drying area, with a pull out rack for small items. A Perrin and Rowe tap, again in the polished nickel, with a pull out hose, and the polished nickel feature shelf brackets to match. The shelves keep a sense of openness in an otherwise long, narrow room. It also creates some interest on a long wall, with the lovely paneling in the back ground. There is an open space for drying shirts and a pullout rack for small items or things that may need to dry flat. Plenty of storage in the wall units and broom cupboards. One of which hides all the services.
